The Symposium is held at the Kultuurikatel in Tallinn, which is the former building of Tallinn City Central Power Station. Only with the founding of that power station in 1913 did the use of electrical energy become common and electricity an everyday benefit.

The limestone building used to be the power station´s boiler room, which was completed in 1934. The boilers in the hall were built in 1949 and 1949, were designed and made in Estonia and adapted for the use of oil shale. In 1979 the power plant produced its last electricity and continued producing and distributing heat until the early 1990s. The boiler room, gas reservoir, trestle and stack are under heritage protection from 2007.
