The Symposium registration is closed.

Space is limited for the panels and especially the field trip – we encourage you to sign up early! Additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list in the order received.

Symposium fee includes:

  • Access to 2 concurrent sessions with presentations and panel discussions over 2 days (Tuesday, September 20 – Wednesday, September 21)
  • Daily refreshments, lunches and a Gala Dinner on Tuesday evening

Participants are responsible for reserving and paying for their own lodging during the Symposium in Tallinn. We have secured discounted rates at a number of hotels in the area nearby the event venue. To secure the advantage of the discounts, use the promotional codes provided in the Accomodation section.

Group discount

Group discounts are available to institutions that register 2 or more delegates for the Symposium. To qualify, all registrants must be from the same company and registered at the same time. Discount rates are as follows:
• -20% for up to 8 delegates
• -15% for up to 4 delegates
• -10% for up to 2 delegates

Please fill in the online registration form and write “Group discount” to the “Other information” section.


Field Trip

The Symposium offers a unique opportunity to visit the most prominent sites of the Estonian oil shale industry as well as to get insights into the operation of the companies. The number of participants will be limited on a first-come first-served basis. We encourage those interested to sign up early to secure a seat on this exciting field trip!

Lectures and tours in the heart of the Estonian oil shale industry will include:

  • The unique shale oil, gas and electricity cogeneration plant Enefit280
  • The new 300 MW Auvere Power Plant based on state-of-the-art circulating fluidized bed technology using oil shale and woodchips for fuel
  • World´s largest oil shale open cast mining site
  • Presentations by, and an opportunity to meet and consult the management and experts of the companies operating the sites
  • Overnight lodging at a spa hotel (Thursday, September 22)
  • All meals and snacks, including a Field Trip Group Dinner
  • Transportation from Tallinn to Narva (Eastern Estonia), and back to Tallinn
